How Brenham’s Citation Lookup Works
Brenham Municipal Court lets people pay an eligible full fine online with a citation number and date of birth or vehicle information. The city does not call this a complete warrant database. A payment account can identify a citation and balance, but the court must confirm whether a separate warrant was issued or recalled.
Use the Municipal Court page for the current link. If the account is not found, call the court administrator and ask which identifier the clerk needs.
Checking for a Warrant in Brenham
For a Brenham citation, start with Municipal Court at 979-337-7599, not the police records desk. The city court keeps its own Class C, traffic, and ordinance files. Its page says police cannot answer questions about fines or court procedure.
- Read the ticket and note the court, citation number, and appearance date.
- Use the online account only for an eligible fine and with the requested citation details.
- Call Municipal Court about warrant status, a hearing, plea, or deferred-disposition request.
- Contact police for a law-enforcement matter or to ask where a service question belongs.
- For a county case, use the separate Washington County records route.
Brenham Citation and Warrant Deadline
The city court says a new citation requires an appearance in person or by mail within 10 working days. A phone call is not an appearance and does not prevent warrant issuance. Follow the date and method on the citation, and contact the court if the deadline has passed.
Do not pay online first if seeking driver-safety course or deferred disposition. Brenham says these requests must be made in writing or in person. Read the plea form, since a guilty or no-contest plea can create a conviction.
Brenham Warrant Police and Court Roles
Brenham Municipal Court issues city process for traffic, Class C offenses, and ordinances inside city limits. Brenham Police Department handles city law enforcement. The court lists the city marshal separately at 979-337-7501. The police department is at 1800 Longwood Drive, phone 979-337-7337; 24-hour dispatch is 979-277-7373.

Brenham Wednesday Arraignment
Brenham publishes Wednesday arraignments at 9:45 a.m. A phone call does not replace the required appearance on a new citation. Before going to City Hall, ask whether the case is set for arraignment or needs another date. Court and police are at different addresses.
The court’s administrator handles citation and procedure questions. The city marshal number is separate. The county courthouse and jail are separate facilities outside this city court process.
Brenham Warrant Types
Brenham Municipal Court handles city traffic, Class C, and ordinance matters. A missed setting may lead to FTA or capias process. A capias pro fine follows a judgment and unpaid fine-and-cost amount; it is not the same as an unpaid ticket before judgment.
| Warrant Type | How It Arises | Who Issues It |
|---|---|---|
| Traffic process | Missed appearance or unpaid judgment | Brenham Municipal Court |
| Ordinance process | Unresolved city-code matter | Brenham Municipal Court |
| FTA or capias | Failure to appear or comply with a court order | Municipal judge |
| Arrest warrant | Probable-cause process in a criminal case | Authorized magistrate or judge |
Brenham Warrant Resolution Contacts
Brenham Municipal Court, Washington County JP1, and JP3 participate in the Great Texas Warrant Resolution. The city says notices are mailed and local enforcement begins in March, but it also states no amnesty will be offered. Dates change, and participation does not promise a fee waiver.
Call the issuing office to ask which court has the case and whether payment, a hearing, or a judge appearance is needed. JP1’s number is 979-277-6260; the JP3 clerk is reached through 979-277-6200.
Inside a Brenham Warrant Record
Brenham does not publish a sample warrant record or number format. Its payment account uses a citation number and date of birth or vehicle information, but that does not show whether a separate warrant is recalled. Ask the clerk to identify the court entry and current status.
| Citation or cause number | Use the identifier on the ticket or notice. |
|---|---|
| Name details | The payment account may use birth date or vehicle information. |
| Charge | Traffic, Class C, or city-ordinance matter. |
| Issuing court | Brenham Municipal Court for city cases. |
| Fine or warrant fee | Ask whether an added fee applies; no universal warrant amount is posted. |
| Status | Confirm whether active, served, recalled, or cleared in the court system. |
Brenham Warrant Payment Choices
The city accepts Visa, Mastercard, or Discover for eligible full-fine payments. A warrant fee may be added when process is handled, but the page gives no single amount. At arraignment, a judge may consider a payment plan, community service, waiver, PR bond, or extension. The published payment-plan fee is $25.
If the case is disputed or a driver-safety course or deferred disposition is sought, contact the court before paying online. Some requests must be in writing or in person, and a payment can affect plea choices.
How Brenham Warrants Fit the County System
Brenham Municipal Court keeps city citation and ordinance matters, while the Washington County Sheriff’s Office handles countywide service and booking; DPS may hold a separate FTA/FTP compliance report if the court reports it. A city record may not appear on a county-facing page. Use the Washington County warrant records overview for the broader court route.
Warrant flow: Brenham Municipal Court / Police › Washington County Sheriff › Texas DPS compliance for reported FTA/FTP matters
Brenham City Records Requests
Brenham’s public-information form asks for requester contact details, a specific description, and a delivery choice. It says a response may take up to 10 business days and provides an estimate when charges exceed $40. Police-record requests should include a case number or the full name of an involved person. Ask for your own status, a blank form, or a non-identifying policy record.
A records request is not an instant warrant lookup. The city may need time to locate records and may redact protected information under Texas law.
The Brenham administration directory is the current city starting point; ask the City Secretary where to obtain the public-information form before submitting a request.
Brenham Warrant Records and Public Access
Texas Government Code Chapter 552 governs requests to city offices. Code of Criminal Procedure article 15.26 makes executed arrest warrants and affidavits public, subject to other laws. Family Code §58.010 keeps juvenile arrest-warrant materials confidential except for specified authorized users. A public request is not a substitute for a direct status call to Municipal Court.
Key Rules:
Texas Public Information Act sets access rules and exceptions.
Code of Criminal Procedure art. 15.26 addresses access after execution.
Family Code §58.010 limits public access to juvenile arrest-warrant files.
